Eastern Shore Representation

Once you cross the eastbound lanes of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge life is different, so too is the legal profession and the administration of justice. The Eastern shore consists of nine Maryland counties of the Chesapeake Bay's eastern side. The counties comprising the Eastern Shore are Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester counties.

Ocean City is the most well know part of the Eastern Shore. It has a distinct culture of the shore. The skyline, containing tall hotels and condominiums, stands out with Delmarva. On Ocean City's southern end a recreational boardwalk spans over thirty blocks, containing carnival rides and games, restaurants, bars, arcades, and clothing boutiques.

The Eastern Shore populous is generally more conservative then their Western Shore counter-parts. The region has a history of strongly supporting Republican candidates for governor. Republicans Ellen Sauerbrey in 1994 and 1998, Bob Ehrlich in 2002, 2006 and 2010 and Larry Hogan in 2014 swept all nine counties. More important to our concerns, the judiciary is generally tougher on crime. Often sentences handed out on the Eastern Shore for the same acts committed in the Baltimore and surrounding areas are remarkably different.

This goes back to the concept of knowing your jurisdiction and knowing your judge. Fortunately, I am friends with, and have professional relationships with attorneys and judges on the Eastern Shore that I have known for nearly (30) thirty years. If I don't know what is likely to happen in a given situation, I will find out, and respond accordingly.
